RESILIENT ROOTS
RESILIENT ROOTS . This is an EMDR Group for Parenting Stress in Second - Generation Refugees & Immigrants - Part 1 of 2. This therapy group will help you to heal from unresolved stress and trauma so that you can be a calmer and more balanced parent/the kind of parent you want to be. Click here for more info on: EMDR.
Have you found that the coping strategies that you leaned on prior to parenting, don't really help anymore now that you're a parent? Do you find that your child's behaviour often triggers strong physical reactions in your body or boiling point responses from you (that don't match the situation at hand)? If this is case, it might be that your unresolved childhood experiences and/or unprocessed trauma are at play in your current parenting and that this group is for you.

Part 1. Resilient Roots: "Foundations" course. Welcome to our course designed specifically for second-generation refugees and immigrants. Together, we will explore the shared experiences of resilience and determination shaped by our families' challenges and sacrifices for a better future. This course will also provide a deeper understanding of the hidden stress and trauma that often accompany the experiences of second-generation refugees and immigrants. By exploring these challenges, you will gain insights into how they may affect your parenting and daily life. Additionally, you will receive a solid foundation in EMDR Group Therapy, and with valuable skills to enhance your coping strategies. Join us in this empowering journey.

Hidden stresses may include:
* Economic pressures & limited access to resources.
* Cultural stigma around mental health and expression of emotions.
* Challenges of living between two cultures.
* Difference in values and lifestyle between parents and children can create conflict and feelings of guilt.
* Intergeneration trauma and stress - Your parents unprocessed trauma may have carried over to their ability to support you.
* Isolation: Feeling misunderstood by your parents, alone in your feelings, and/or lack of community support.
* Identity issues, which may be related to experiences of discrimination or social prejudice.
Part 2. Resilient Roots: "Going Deeper" course - continues the memory processing work, clears away "stuck" emotions and builds upon the skills learned in Part 1.
